Brian Rickman (PADI IDC Staff Instructor) will be teaching this course.
This specialty is for everyone that wants to continue their dive education and move beyond being co-dependent on a buddy for additional safety! That don't mean we still don't suggest you dive with a buddy, just that you will be a much stronger one that can handle their own emergencies and know what it takes to dive solo!
Call (404) 285-8600 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to get information on how to sign up!
The goals of the course are:
1. To develop understanding of the value and application of the buddy system and the philosophy of, and motivation for, diving without a partner.
2. To introduce the potential risks, risk management techniques and the need for equipment redundancy in self-reliant diving.
3. To improve self-reliant dive skills, dive planning and gas management abilities.
We start with a Classroom session with a skilled instructor to teach you all skills and knowledge you are gong to need followed by 3 Open Water dives to give you the experience you need to dive independently. On the 3rd dive you get to make your first solo dive but with an instructor available to assist you!
You must have 100 logged dives, be 18 years or older, and completed a dive skills assessment by a Self-Reliant Instructor to start the course!
